Bhartiya Janata Party was founded in 1980. The party can be called as descendant of Bhartiya Jan Sangh that merged into Janata Party in 1977. BJP is called a right wing party. The party is ruling in six states at its own and is ruling in three states with the help of allied parties. With such big presence news of Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) is a common affair.

The Bhartiya Janata party had only two seats in Lok Sabha but party improved its performance in the following years and became largest single party in Lok Sabha in 2006. For this success Bhartiya Janata Party was in news and a lot of things were written about its rise to the center stage. The party leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee become prime minister but had to resign soon as he could not get majority. In the 1998 Lok Sabha elections BJP led National Democratic Alliance attained majority and Atal Bihari Vajpayee once again became Prime Minster. Since then news about BJP is a very common thing.

The BJP led government fell in May 1999 but the party soon elected to power in the same year. In 2004 general election the party lost election and had to sit in opposition.
