BJP supports arrest of Sanjeev Bhatt

New Delhi, Sat, 01 Oct 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Oct 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has supported the arrest of suspended senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sanjeev Bhatt, who has accused Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of misusing the state machinery during the post-Godhra riots.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Hussain said that the law was equal for all, be it a lawmaker or a government officer, and added that the state government had taken the correct decision.

"The law takes its own course. The government follows the law and law is equivalent for all -be it the Prime Minister, P Chidambaram or A. Raja or be it any government officer. The law takes its own course. If a government officer does not follow the law then the government has to take action following the law and this is the responsibility of any government," he added.

Hussain further said that the Congress is to deeply embedded in corruption, and is now facing the brunt of its own scams and scandals.

"We are not being benefited by the wrong done by the Congress party. Congress is facing the brunt of its own mistakes. We have a self understanding of politics and we think that in this corruption embedded atmosphere, Congress party has broken all past records of corruption," added Hussain.

Meanwhile, slamming the government, senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that the Congress party was pressurizing Delhi Police to arrest the whistleblowers in cash for votes scam.

"Delhi Police is working under the pressure of central government. The Delhi police rather than arresting the criminals are arresting the whistle blowers. The people are surprised to see this. This is a serious matter."

Naidu also said that Congress will pay a heavy price and corruption issues will continue to haunt the party in next elections as well.

"The Congress will pay heavy price, I want to warn the Congress party this solid drama it is going to boomerang on the Congress party and Congress party in future will pay a heavy price and this issue will continue to haunt the Congress party till next elections," added Naidu. (ANI)
