Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi has envisaged for putting Gujarat on the global map and he is on the way. Today he is the longest serving chief minister of Gujarat.

Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on 17th September 1950 in a middle class family in Vadnagar. He was the third child of the Damodardas Moolchan Modi and his wife Heeraben.

He joined Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh (RSS) in his early childhood and also started work for Bhartiya Jananta Party in his young. By his unique leadership he is to turn Gujarat on the global map, which has been envisaged by him. His life is full of controversy and struggle. In fact his personality is just a mixture of some unusual things, which makes him some thing separate.

From his teenage he has confronted many odds and obstacles in his life. Modi used to run a tea stall with his brother in his teenage. He completed his school education in Vaadnagar and earned a Master Degree in Political Science from Gujarat University. Modi know how to change the difficulties into opportunities and when he joined college and University for the higher education, he continued his education after all the difficulties in his way of life. Modi completed his post graduation in Political Science and attached with Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh (RSS). During his journey with RSS he played major role and imbibed the spirit of selflessness, social responsibility, dedication and nationalism, which changes his life ahead.

During emergency he remained underground and performed his stints provided to him and opposed the moves of then govt. restrictions. He joined BJP in 1987 and entered into main politics. Within a year he reached to the level of General Secretary of Gujarat Unit. Due to his motivational and energetic image he was provided to task of energizing the party cadres in right earnest. After many struggle and taking political mileage state BJP come in power in 1995 and since then it is in power.

Then Chief Minister Keshu Bhai patel had resigned from his post due to defeat of party in by-election and Narendra Modi took the charge of Chief Minister of Gujarat in October in 2001. When Modi took over the charge of Gujarat, its economy was reeling under the adverse effects of several natural calamities including an earthquake in January 2001. However Modi fought with all the odds and made the state in one of the leading states in India. He has made much achievement during this time and noticed many national and international acclaim.

Apart from the natural calamities occurred in 2001, he has to face the Godhra and Gujarat riots in 2002, which began a blot on his developmental icon. He has to face criticism from many sections for not handling the situations and even NDA allies like DMK and TDP in the central govt. demanded his resignation. At last Modi submitted his resignation and state has to face new election. After the riot it was forecasted that Modi's comeback would be difficult but results declared shown that he got 127 seats out of 182 in the 10th State assembly election held.

In 2007 state assembly election, once again he repeated his performance and got 122 seats and now he is the longest serving chief minister of Gujarat.

Modi is the person who is devoted to his goal completely and leaves no stone unturned to achieve this. Generally his decision irked his own supporter but his dedication towards the Gujarat don's cared them. It is said that he ordered the demolition of many Hindu temples, which were not built with the proper govt. sanctions. However this move was criticised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad at that time.

He has envisaged putting Gujarat on the global map and he has done so. His campaign Vibrant Gujarat has lured many investors in the state and even top entrepreneurs are bound to praise his leadership and see him as the Prime Minister of India.
