Levi's Hamilton run feat to cost Mumbai Indians Rand 26000 per run

Cape Town, Thu, 01 Mar 2012 ANI

Cape Town, Mar 1 (ANI): Mumbai Indians have signed Proteas opener Richard Levi for three million Rand, which meand the IPL franchise would be forking out R26 000 for every run that he scored during his record breaking 117 in Hamilton against New Zealand.

Levi's agent Arthur Turner confirmed on Monday that the big hitter has signed a contract to play for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League in April and May this year.

Levi had the cricket world struggling for superlatives two weeks ago when he 117 runs not out of 51 deliveries in a T20 clash against New Zealand.

While he was left on the rack after the IPL player auction earlier this year, the Mumbai Indians and the Pune Warriors were on his trail this time around, Sport24 reports.

"Richard has been playing brilliant cricket for the Cobras the past two seasons, but he had to show his worth to the Proteas to get this chance," Turner said. (ANI)
