Tough task for Royal Challengers against Super Kings

Africa, Thu, 14 May 2009 IANS

Durban, May 13 (IANS) Chennai Super Kings will be looking to ensure their semi-final berth in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Kingsmead here Thursday.

Super Kings are second on the points table with 13 points from 10 matches while Royal Challengers are sixth and have 10 points from 11 matches.

With four matches in hand, last year's runners-up Super Kings are in a comfortable position to make the semi-final while Royal Challengers are in a must win situation.

Super Kings are riding high on their five-match winning streak and it will be a tough task for the Royal Challengers to beat them.

Royal Challengers main concern was their batting but it came good against Kolkata Knight Riders with Ross Taylor coming back to form with a 33-ball 81.

Royal Challengers' batting hasn't been impressive in the IPL and against Super Kings' good bowling attack it will be a challenging task for them to get a win under their belt as the IPL is in its closing stages.

Royal Challengers' costly buy Jesse Ryder has failed to fulfil the expectations while Robin Uthappa has been a flop. The batting revolves around Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid and Mark Boucher and the trio have to put up a good show against Super Kings.

For Super Kings, it is their poor fielding that can put them in a spot of bother. Their butter fingered fielders have dropped sitters regularly in every match. But their batting has looked pretty solid and if Matthew Hayden is on song he will tear apart the Royal Challengers bowling attack.

So for Royal Challengers, it looks like an uphill task against Super Kings.
