Pak intelligence believes Osama bin Laden is dead : Zardari

Islamabad, Mon, 27 Apr 2009 ANI

Islamabad, Apr.27 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that his country's intelligence believes that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead, but they have no proof to back their claims.

"The Americans tell me they don't know, and they are much more equipped than us to trace him. And our own intelligence services obviously think that he does not exist any more, that he is dead. But there is no evidence, you cannot take that as a fact," The Nation quoted Zardari, as saying.

"We are between facts and fiction," he added.

When asked to comment over reports that the Swat Taliban would welcome bin-Laden if he comes to Pakistan, Zardari said it was not clear whether he was alive or not, but it is evident that there is no trace of Al-Qaeda chief.

"The question is whether he is alive or dead. There is no trace of him," Zardari said. (ANI)
