Kajang (Malaysia), Apr. 22 (ANI): The youth wing of the Malaysian Indian Congress party has set up a committee to help foreign workers, who are facing problems with their work permits and documents.

After coming across many reports of migrant workers being duped into coming to Malaysia, MIC Youth decided to set up this committee.

Led by its membership and voters' registration bureau chief G. Kumaar Aamaan, the committee has so far received three such cases involving 10 workers employed in restaurants and manufacturing sector in Johor and Genting Highlands.

"A notable one was that we had resolved a case of a foreign wife who finally obtained a Permanent Resi-dent (PR) after marrying a local for 10 years," the Daily Star quoted Aamaan, as saying.

Their cases have been referred by the committee to the Human Resources Ministry and the Immi-gration Department.

"We also plan to submit a memorandum to Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein on various matters," he said.

The memorandum would include details on the plight and grievances currently faced by foreign workers. (ANI)
