Fabio quit claims rejected by Football Association

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

London, July 26 (ANI): The Football Association has denied that England coach Fabio Capello will quit in two years, or half way through his lucrative four year contract.

The Italian was quoted as saying he would retire from football after the 2010 World Cup.

The Sun quoted an FA spokesman as saying that: "Fabio just wishes to clarify he did not mean he was planning to quit the England job after the World Cup.

"I have spoken to him and his focus is solely on one tournament at a time. At the moment, his full concentration is on qualifying for the 2010 World Cup and he is not thinking past that objective at the moment," the spokesman added.

Speaking to an Italian newspaper, Capello was quoted as saying he would finish as Three Lions boss after the World Cup finals in South Africa.

He was reported to have said: "My shift ends with England. My work on the field ends with the English experience."

Asked if he was going to retire in two years after the World Cup, Capello replied: "This is certain." (ANI)
