South Africa will ensure security to IPL players, says Rajiv Shukla

New Delhi, Mar 26 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajiv Shukla on Thursday said that the South African Government has consented to provide all security measures to the teams participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"Security precautions would be taken in South Africa. The Government of South Africa has given assurance that foolproof security would be provided to all the IPL players. Since the security concern is a worldwide concept, all relevant security measures would be taken," Shukla told reporters here.

Shukla further said it was almost impossible for the BCCI to shift the tournament from April to May, as the players are required to report in England after May 24, where the Twenty20 World Cup is being held.

It may be recalled that after the IPL decided to take the tournament outside India due to the general elections in India, the BCCI select South Africa for this year's edition. (ANI)
