PML-N senator says 200 criminals sent to Pak Punjab to target Sharifs

Islamabad, Fri, 13 Mar 2009 ANI

Islamabad, Mar 13 (ANI): PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar has claimed that as per information about 200 criminals have been sent to Punjab with the target to assassinate the Sharif brothers on the whim of some high official of the PPP-led Government.

Speaking after the election of chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate, Dar criticised the government for arresting party leaders including Raja Zafarul Haq and Zafar Ali Shah, in violation of the statement of the Interior Advisor that no directive has been issued to arrest people.

He stressed that the government should withdraw the apex court verdict on the disqualification of Sharif brothers and added that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif did not compromise their stance on reinstatement of deposed judges.

He rejected the assertion that the long march and sit-in were undemocratic to adopt as a means to protest, and said Benazir Bhutto had also called for such protests, The Nation reported.

Dar also rejected the allegations of treason from the ruling party and said the struggle of Sharif brothers aimed at reforming the system, but not against the state. (ANI)
