The name game of Brangelina's kids

Washington, July 14 (ANI): What's in a name? Well, when it comes to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's kids, their names are certainly trend-setters.

And now that the golden couple of Hollywood have welcomed their twins-boy Knox Leon and girl Vivienne Marcheline-it seems to be the beginning of a new name trend.

U.S. Social Security online records revealed that when the couple named their first biological daughter Shiloh in 2006, it cracked the top 1,000 most popular baby names last year for the first time.

In boys, Maddox, the name of the son adopted by the 'Tomb Raider' star in 2002 was placed in the top 1,000 in 2003, after hitting headlines for almost an year.

"Celebrities have a huge influence on baby-naming-as long as it's not too wacky," E! Online quoted baby-name expert Jennifer Moss, founder of BabyNames.com, as sayinig.

While Knox is unusual, it was in fact, the middle name of Pitt's maternal grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse. However, Vivienne is more popular, and was regularly among the 1,000 most popular girl names in the early 20th century.

Moss said that there are times when all an out-of-favour classic like Vivienne needs is the boost of a celebrity endorsement, just like it happened with Isabella when Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman selected the name for their eldest child in 1993 and it cleared the top 250 within a year.

Moss believed that Shiloh, with its Biblical roots may go a long way what with the Jolie-Pitt endorsement, to stick around.

"I think it'll definitely go higher," she said.

While the early reviews for Knox and Vivienne are good, a poster (or three) on Celebrity Babies Blog was seen reading: "Love the names!"

In fact, Moss is hoping that Vivienne and the girl's middle name, Marcheline, after Jolie's late mother, carries a lot of potential to create a rage in the world of baby names.

"I think [they'll] probably bring back more French-sounding names Vivienne and Marcheline are really beautiful names, and I think they'll probably rise in popularity," said Moss.

And as far as Knox is concerned, "He'll probably get 'School of Hard Knox, But it's a respectable name'" said Moss. (ANI)
