Winehouse rescues tourist on beach

Europe, Wed, 21 Jan 2009 IANS

London, Jan 21 (IANS) British singer Amy Winehouse rescued a tourist while holidaying in the Caribbean island of St Lucia.

Thesun.co.uk reports that Louise Williams, 39, was taking sailing lessons and fell off when a six-foot wave caught her boat. She landed in the rocks close to where Winehouse and her friend were relaxing. Winehouse then ran toward Williams and guided her back to the beach and even cleaned her cut back.

Williams said: 'I was bowled over by her (Winehouse) kindness. She went out of her way to help me.'

Recalling the incident, Williams added: 'A six-foot wave caught the boat and I went flying and hit a rock. Amy (Winehouse) was on the beach 20 metres away and she ran across immediately and said, 'Let's have a look at you'. She picked me up and took me across to the showers and was constantly asking, 'Are you all right?''
