Sydney, Dec.11 (ANI): There is still apprehension among some Australian players about touring India or Pakistan in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Some senior players have told The Australian they are uncertain about future tours.
Australian vice captain Michael Clarke said on Wednesday that security is a key issue he had to weigh up when considering a possible signing with the Indian Premier League in 2009.
"I have a lot of things to consider. Obviously I have to think about the amount of cricket we are playing, I am trying to plan a wedding as well and I have to think about what has happened there recently," Clarke was quoted, as saying.
"There is obviously a lot I have to consider, but I am going to play this Test series (against South Africa) and then I can sit down with Lara (his fianc?) and my family and make a decision. I certainly would love to be part of the IPL, but it is a matter of timing. If I am right to go I will look forward to that," he added.
Clarke was speaking at the launch of a promotion unveiling the pink stumps to be used during the SCG Test in 2009 on behalf of the McGrath Foundation.
Other players contacted by The Australian said the attacks on the Taj Mahal Hotel, where they had stayed many times, had created anxiety about returning for the tournament in April-May.
One player manager said: "If something happens around one of the teams I think the cricketers will head for the hills and I can't blame them. However, India is a very resilient place and tends to bounce back from these sort of things." (ANI)
