Kerala explores healthcare pact with UAE

Dubai, Nov 21 (IANS) A visiting delegation from Kerala is discussing a proposed agreement on healthcare manpower with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government here.

 

The delegation, led by state Health Minister P.K. Sreemathi, was received by UAE Health Minister Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami here late Thursday.

 

 

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the two sides discussed ways of having a memorandum of understanding for training medical, nursing cadres and exchange of expertise in the first aid care and preventive medical sectors.

 

 

Of the around 1.5 million expatriate Indians in this Gulf nation, a large number hail from Kerala.

 

 

Al Qatami, while welcoming the Indian delegation, referred to the deep-rooted bilateral relations between the Emirati and Indian peoples.

 

 

On her part, Sreemathi commended the role played by the UAE health ministry to provide better medical services in the country.
