Onboard Air India One, Oct 21 (ANI): On the eve of dialogue between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso, New Delhi has blamed Tokyo for deferring the implementation of comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) that can prove to be a shot in the arm for the bilateral trade between the two countries.
The current trade between the two countries stands at 10 billion dollars and is expected to reach 15 billion dollars by 2015.
Top Indian officials have identified three areas pertaining CEPA on which both countries have failed to reach any consensus so far. First roadblock comes in the field of agriculture.
Indian official say that they are "extremely sensitive" about this sector and there exists a lot of ambiguity on import and export of fresh fruits and vegetables. India is seeking a clear and categorical roadmap on this front.
Pharmaceuticals is another area in which Japanese industries are "over protected" and third issue which is close to be resolved and is considered as a less of a problem by the officials is the rules of origin. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)
