Paes, Saif and Soha to run for Olympic torch relay
India's ace tennis player Leander Paes and the brother-sister actors duo of Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan will be the among the proud six torchbearers who will run in the Beijing 2008 Olympics torch relay in country’s capital at New Delhi on April 17.
The remaining three torch-bearers comprise Tata Consultancy Services CEO Subramanian Ramadorai, Ingram Micro India CEO Jaishankar Krishnan and orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Vaibhav Bagaria from Nagpur.
All of them have been preferred for their extraordinary achievement in a particular field. The torch-bearers will hold the Lenovo-designed ‘Cloud of Promise’ torch.
Saif and Soha are Lenovo brand ambassadors while Paes is a likely medal prospect at the forthcoming Beijing Olympics. Lenovo is the worldwide partner of the 2008 Olympic torch relay programme.
“Lenovo is commemorating the Olympics power by honouring these individuals for their personal achievements. We plan to honour them globally,” said Lenovo India Managing Director while addressing the mediapersons.
S. Ramadorai is famous for its global management in software field. J. Krishnan is known for his IT distribution services contribution. Dr. Bagaria, who runs a charity hospital in Nagpur, is the winner of the nation-wide open nomination programme conducted by Lenovo, edging out 400 nominations received by Lenovo.
