London, Nov 2 (ANI): Prince William's wife Kate's 3 inch scar on her head, just above her left ear, is the result of a sporting accident when she was at school, it has been revealed.
The scar was exposed when the 29-year-old sported a half-up half-down hairstyle during a private charity dinner.
The spokesman for the Duchess at St James's Palace had said that the scar was the result of surgery that had taken place more than a decade before.
"The scar related to a childhood operation," he had said.
Although the palace refused to discuss what kind of operation, senior royal sources confirmed that it had been 'a very serious operation'.
However one of Middleton's childhood friends has now revealed the truth behind the injury.
"Everyone knows Kate was sporty at school, and she told me how she had a sporting accident," the Daily Mail quoted her friend as telling Grazia.
"She was hit on the head when she was 14 or 15. Later, she was taken to hospital by her mother and had to have an operation. I can only presume the two were connected."
The accident occurred when Middleton was hit on the heat by a hockey stick, as she was a part of Malborough School's team and played often. (ANI)
