Lucknow, Oct 25 (ANI): The Sahara Force India F1 team arrived in the city to enthrall fans, as India gears up to host its first ever Formula One race.
Hundreds gathered to take a closer look at the F1 car that was on display at a mall in the city on Monday.
Rekha Mallya, wife of United Beweries Chairman Vijay Mallya said she is proud to be associated with the Sahara Force 1 and her best wishes are with the team.
"I feel very proud to be associated with Sahara Force 1. I wish the team all my good wishes and good luck," said Mallya.
Meanwhile, locals expressed excitement on India hosting the first ever Formula 1 race and said that they are looking forward to the event to take place.
"I am very happy that for the very first time, India is hosting the Formula 1 race. It is a matter of great pride for the entire country. I am also elated to see the F1 car in front of me today; I have never imagined that I would get such a big opportunity. I am looking forward to witnessing the race," said Shiv Pratap Singh, a local.
The Sahara Group, headed by Subroto Roy has invested 100 million dollars to obtain a 42.5 percent stake in the Force India Formula One team that was previously owned by Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya and Dutch businessman Michiel Mol.
India will host its first Formula One Grand Prix at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida on October 30(ANI)
