London, Oct 11 (ANI): News Corporation's boss Rupert Murdoch and his son James Murdoch should be voted off the media company 's board, a leading US shareholder advisory group has said.
According to Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), shareholders should vote against the re-election of all but two of News Corp's 15 board members because the phone hacking scandal is 'perhaps the most visible and severe example of the failure of board stewardship',
The ISS said the board directors that should include former British Airways chief executive Sir Rod Eddington, as the lead independent director on the board, The Telegraph reports.
News Corp, however, said it 'strongly disagrees' with the ISS, and that it's working hard to resolve issues related to phone hacking.
According to the paper, the News Corp's board has long been a target of corporate governance experts, who argue that it fails to provide the necessary oversight of a company in which the Murdoch family has nearly 40 percent of the voting rights. (ANI)
