Washington, Sept 30 (ANI): Former women's boxing champion Laila Ali has opened up about her new out of the ring life as mother and show host, and praises her famous dad, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, for his support.
The 29-year-old, who retired from boxing in 2007, will be the host of "Everyday Health," a new show that will air Saturdays on ABC stations.
The program will feature inspirational stories about people who have faced health challenges.
"You know, I'm so excited to be hosting this new show. And 'Everyday Health' is wonderful because, you know, we focus on individuals who are ordinary, but they're doing extraordinary things now," CBS News quoted her as saying on 'Good Morning America'.
Ali, who has two children, 3-year-old Curtis Jr., and 6-month-old Sydney with husband, Curtis Conway, also talked about her new role as a mother.
"It's a lot of work, you know. And lately I've been doing a lot of complaining and I have to remind myself like, 'Come on champ. You're the champ now,'" the boxer said.
"No, but basically, you know, I just have to put my priorities in order. And you know, family comes first," she said.
Ali is also working with the American Kidney Fund to raise awareness about kidney disease and credits her famous father for her charitable nature.
"My dad is doing wonderful. He is doing great. And he's so, so proud of me. He's happy that I'm doing the show," Ali revealed.
"You know, my dad's a philanthropist ... you know, my dad has just taught me to overcome, you know, whatever it is that I'm facing, to be strong, to overcome it and to give back," she added. (ANI)
