London, Sept 7 (ANI): World Champion Spain and Italy qualified for the Euro 2012 on Tuesday.
Spain eased to a 6-0 win at home to minnows Liechtenstein to make it six wins out of six while Italy left it late to gain a 1-0 home win over an unimpressive Slovenia, Gianpaulo Pazzini coming on as a substitute to score with five minutes remaining in front of a pitiful crowd of just 18,000 in Florence, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The 2010 and 2006 world champions join already-qualified Germany and the two co-hosts in the finals.
Italy's coach Cesar Prandelli said that the team's courage has led to the victory.
"It was the victory of courage. We dominated in midfield but couldn't break through and that's why I went to three forwards (in the second half)," Prandelli said.
England is also approaching towards the finals, as reports suggest that it had established a 1-0 win over Wales at Wembley.
Agreeing that the result had been the priority, England manager Fabio Capello said: "Sometimes the result is more important than the other things." (ANI)
