Arab League asks UN and other nations to unfreeze Libya's assets

Tripoli, Aug 28 (ANI): The Arab League (AL) has called on the United Nations and relevant countries to unfreeze Libya's assets and properties.

 

A special meeting of Arab foreign ministers meeting agreed on the return of Libya to the AL that suspended Libya's membership in February due to violence triggered by anti-government protests.

 

The AL stressed the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya should be respected and pledged support for Libya during its transitional period, Xinhua reports.

 

Mohamoud Jibril, chairman of Libyan rebels' National Transitional Council's (NTC) Executive Bureau called the Arab countries to help his country overcome the current difficulties.

 

He said if the NTC fails to bring about stability, it would ask the Arab states to help it achieve this. (ANI)
