Lahore, August 26(ANI): Pakistan's middle-order batsman Azhar Ali and left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz have been named in the final list for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards 2011 in the category of the Emerging Player of the Year.
Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, a two-time winner of the Umpire of the Year Award, has been placed in the final list for the David Shepherd Trophy for the ICC Umpire of the Year award, while Steve Davis, Ian Gould, Simon Taufel are the other nominees for the award, The Nation reports.
India's Gautam Gambhir has found a place in the shortlist for the ICC ODI player of the Year, along with South Africa's Hashim Amla, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and Australia's Shane Watson, for the awards to be presented in London on September 12.
The final lists of the Annual Awards to be held in association with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations were announced after votes by an independent 25-person academy in each category.
The academy includes a host of former players, respected members of the media as well as representatives of the Emirates Elite Panels of ICC Umpires and ICC Match Referees.
The ICC Awards 2011 take into account performances by players and officials during the period between August 11, 2010 and August 3, 2011. (ANI)
