London, May 4 (ANI): The medals of a late heroic soldier who was known for his nude prison escapade are expected to fetch 12,000 pounds at an auction.
The incredible "home run" of Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Littledale from the notorious Colditz Castle during the Second World War could have come straight from a work of fiction.
Littledale had escaped from Colditz by squeezing naked through a tiny gap while a fellow prisoner, legless RAF hero, Douglas Bader distracted the guards by conducting an orchestra.
The King's Royal Rifle Corps soldier was a persistent escaper who refused to be intimidated and was tortured for his efforts.
Littledale later died, fighting in Normandy. His Distinguished Service Order group is being auctioned. (ANI)
