London, Mar 18 (ANI): Manchester United players could see their basic wages frozen under radical plans being considered by club owners the Glazer family, who may make all future contracts for new and current footballers more incentive based.
The plan would have far-reaching consequences in United's bid to attract players and keep their star names.
Under the scheme, players would no longer get a pay rise when renegotiating contracts but be offered greater financial incentives for number of appearances and honours won.
There is even a plan to make payments in line with how many minutes they play in games, The Sun reports.
News of the idea has leaked down to the players, who are unhappy.
The Glazers in turn are not happy at paying people like Owen Hargreaves 80,000 pounds a week when he does not play. (ANI)
