Burma, Mar.3 (ANI): Ross Dunkley, the co-founder of the Myanmar Times, has reportedly been charged with immigration offences and for drugging and assaulting a woman.
Dunkley, an Australian, faces up to five years in prison if convicted, according to his lawyer.
He was arrested on February 10 and has been logged in the Insein prison, The Independent reports.
His arrest took place less than two weeks after the convening of Burma's new parliament.
The arrest of Mr Dunkley, the country's lone foreign publisher, could be a sign of nerves and may mark a tightening of the already stringent restrictions on the media. ince his arrest, Dunkley has been removed from the post of editor-in-chief of the Burmese-language version of the Myanmar Times and CEO of the company that owns the newspaper.
