New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Muslims in India will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr Thursday, the festival marking the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting.

The announcement was made here Tuesday evening after the new moon could not be sighted in India.

'The moon of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram was not sighted anywhere in India and there will be another day of fasting Wednesday. The Eid will be celebrated Insha Allah on Thursday,' Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Shahi Imam of Delhi Jama Masjid, told IANS.

'We had no reports of moon sighting from anywhere in the country,' the Shahi Imam said.
