Indian Junior Women team to face The Netherlands in their first match of the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament 2015
New Delhi, 18 July 2015: With immense hard-work and a series of preparation camps, the Indian Junior Women team is all-geared up for the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) tournament, where the best teams of the world will face each other to win the title. On the first day of the Junior Women tournament tomorrow, India will battle against the host team The Netherlands with a hope to win and mark a good beginning.
Both the teams will be eyeing to edge past each other with brilliant showcase of on-field skills and effective team work in the first match. With good experience gained during their New Zealand Tour in 2014 where the team drew three matches, lost two and won one match against the host team, the Junior team seems confident to perform well. The performance here in the Volvo Invitational U-21 Tournament will be a source of encouragement for their upcoming tournaments as well.
After the first match, the Junior Women team led by Rani will face Germany, England, New Zealand and China.
Speaking on the forthcoming match, Captain Rani said, “We are looking forward to perform with the best of our capabilities in our match against The Netherlands and start well in the tournament. With the world's best teams participating, we will aim to get on the field with good tactics and enough zeal showcasing the strength of our team. We have practised hard and hope to give a tough fight in all the face offs proving ourselves better than any other team.”
Speaking on the team's preparation for the tournament, Coach NS Saini said, “The team is well prepared for the first clash against The Netherlands and will definitely put in the best game skills. The tournament is crucial for the girls to boost their morale for the upcoming major tournaments and hence we will not only try to perform well but also take the best lessons from the games to grow.”
The Volvo International U-21 Women Tournament 2015 will be held in Breda, The Netherlands from 19-26 July 2015. The team will face host team The Netherlands in the opening match tomorrow at 1630 IST.
