German Bundesliga rejects goal-line technology

Berlin, March 25 (IANS) The goal line technology will not be introduced in German Bundesliga as the clubs refused a two-third majority, the German Soccer League (DFL) confirmed Monday.

Following a general meeting of the 36 Bundesliga clubs, of the first and second division, the DFL announced not to introduce the goal line technology as they failed to earn the necessary two-third majority, Xinhua reported.

Nine first-division clubs and 15 second-division clubs voted against meanwhile nine top flight clubs and three second-tier sides voted in favour of the goal line technology.

The issue was put on the agenda after Stefan Kiessling's "ghost goal" against Hoffenheim ensured a 2-1 victory.
