Washington, March 24 (ANI): Criticizing Obama administration's surveillance efforts, former US President Jimmy Carter reportedly said that the country's use of drones has been "abused".
Carter said that he preferred communicating via mail with foreign leaders as he was afraid that his electronic correspondences were being monitored.
According to Politics, Carter said that the National Security Agency's collecting data on Americans' phone calls and Internet use and the US' use of drones had become extremely liberalized and abused by its own intelligence agencies.
Carter also said that Obama, unlike other U.S. presidents, had never consulted with him or his foundation on the Ukraine-Russia issue.
Carter faced a similar situation in 1980, when he had boycotted the Summer Olympics in Moscow after the then-Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan.
He said that there has to be a concerted international prohibition against Putin going any further than Crimea.(ANI)
