Wellington, Mar 14 (ANI): Women tennis' world number two Li Na and male Ukrainian player Alexandr Dolgopolov have advanced into the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, California on Thursday.
The Chinese ace consistently battled through each round in a tournament packed with surprises and high-profile casualties to beat Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova 6-3 4-6 6-3 in a little over two-and-a-half hours, in their second meet after the Australian Open final.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Dolgopolov, who came into the spotlight after scoring an upset win over world number one Rafael Nadal in the third round of the event, beat tenth-seeded Milos Raonic 6-3 6-4 in less than 80 minutes.
Li next meets American Sloane Stephens or Flavia Pennetta of Italy while Dolgopolov will face four-times champion Roger Federer or in-form South African Kevin Anderson, the report added. (ANI)
