EU expresses concern over Thailand situation

Brussels, Feb 27 (IANS) European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton Wednesday expressed deep concern through her spokesperson about the recent incidents of political violence in Thailand.

"The death of young children is particularly disturbing," Xinhua quoted the spokesperson as saying in a statement.

The statement said Ashton expressed her deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and called on all stakeholders in Thailand to act with the utmost restraint to prevent any further violence.

Ashton reiterated her urgent call for a dialogue leading to a lasting political solution based on democratic principles, the statement added.
