London, Nov. 26 (ANI): Britain has denied about the growing levels of racial division in the country.
The former head of the equalities watchdog, Trevor Phillips, said Britain has become a 'colour coded society'.
He has launched a study into the way races move around England and Wales with think-tank Demos, the Daily Star reports.
Phillips, who was chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said the research reveals that Britain has yet to face up to the risk that it is drifting into a colour-coded society, the report said.
They found that between the two census in 2001 and 2011 100,000 ethnic minority people left London for other parts of England and Wales.
But they stayed within areas that already had established minority communities.
White people moved to London when in their 20s but moved to predominantly white areas when they started having a family.
600,000 white people left London to areas that are 90 percent white.
The experts who conducted the study, at Birkbeck University, however said this is not due to intolerance, wealth or class, but due to cultural tastes about what areas in which people want to raise families, the report added. (ANI)
