Edinburgh, Nov 10 (ANI): Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has reportedly been named Sportsperson of the Year by Scotland's Commonwealth Games committee in what is sure to be a busy awards season for the Scot tennis ace.

Murray was announced as the recipient of the Emirates Lonsdale Trophy for the second year running in recognition of another successful year, culminating in his historic victory at the All-England Club in July when he became the first British man to win the men's singles title in 77 years.

According to The Scotsman, Murray, who was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours and is hot favourite to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year next month, will receive two Business Class flights to Dubai courtesy of Award sponsor Emirates and a cheque for 1,000 pounds.

The report further said that the other finalists were Canoe Slalom World Champion David Florence, Paralympics sprinter Libby Clegg and Lawn Bowls pair Paul Foster and Alex Marshall MBE, adding that they all received cheques for 250 pounds. (ANI)
