70% North Koreans consume crystal meth, reveals shock study

London , Wed, 28 Aug 2013 ANI

London, Aug. 28 (ANI): Almost 70 percent of the 24 million North Korean population has been reportedly consuming lethally addictive methamphetamine, known as crystal meth, despite struggling to feed themselves, a study revealed.

Daily Star reported that more than 50 percent people were allegedly addicted to crystal meth in some areas of North Korea.

North Korean defectors have claimed that meth or 'ice' can even be bought in restaurants as easily as a cup of coffee and almost every adult in one area has experienced using ice.

The country has little contact with the outside world under the totalitarian and Stalinist regime of Kim Jong-un, who is viewed as a god-like head of the nation, and the country has been associated since long with famine, cruelty, endless monster military parades and sudden sporadic threats to start nuclear war with the rest of the world.

Earlier, the North Korean Government was known to be the exporting source of opium and meth to the world via its embassies.

Although, that trade had stopped, the People's Army is claimed to have huge supplies of drugs, which it dispenses to troops as a stimulant, the report added. (ANI)
