Fergie urges Man U striker Rooney to reconsider transfer request

London , Mon, 13 May 2013 ANI

London, May 13 (ANI): London, May 13 (ANI): Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has asked striker Wayne Rooney to reconsider his transfer request, as he believes Rooney should not be fearful about being axed under the regime of new manager David Moyes.

Rooney had spoken to Ferguson about three weeks back about his role in the team, details of which have apparently been leaked, The Mirror reports.

The report said that Rooney had asked for a transfer request, as he thought Ferguson had lost faith in him, and therefore, had not included him in certain matches during the past few weeks.

While Rooney told Ferguson that he does not want to experience another season of frustration, the latter maintained that the former still has a future with the club and must give a rethink on his transfer request.

Ferguson is already on record as saying that Rooney's future at Old Trafford would now be Moyes and not his responsibility.

According to the report, United has maintained that Rooney is 'not for sale' and that it has had no contact with Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Manchester City on a possible transfer for the latter.

Rooney was not included in United's match against Swansea as Ferguson believes that the player is not in form, the report added. (ANI)
