Melbourne, May 10 (ANI): Richard Branson is opening up his private Australian hideaway to more guests, as he plans to turn the heart-shaped island into a boutique hotel.
At the moment guests can only stay on Makepeace Island if they book out the whole island for a minimum of 8000 dollars per night.
Branson and former Virgin airlines boss Brett Godfrey bought the 10-hectare island on the Noosa River on Queensland's Sunshine Coast ten years ago and spent more than 7 million dollars on the property, giving it the look and feel of a Balinese resort.
Under the plan - subject to council approval - guests will pay around 850 dollars per person per night with a minimum three-night stay, the Herald Sun reported.
The price will include meals and transfers, but alcohol is extra.
Branson said he wanted to make the island accessible to more people and hoped to be taking bookings before Christmas.
"We'd like couples to be able to book the island rather than just people who can afford to take the island as a whole," he said. (ANI)
