Hiddink rules out retirement

Russian Federation,Sports, Mon, 29 Apr 2013 IANS

Moscow, April 29 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Legendary coach Guus Hiddink said he will not retire from football at the end of the season, but refused to commit to another season with Russia's big-spending Anzhi Makhachkala.

Hiddink's side are set for another season in the Europa League next year after their hopes of Champions League qualification took a big dent with a 0-2 loss to Spartak Moscow Sunday.

The Dutchman, 66, said in November he would leave the sport at the end of the season due to his age, but backtracked two days later, saying it was just one possibility.

"I will not retire from football," he said Sunday, adding that he had yet to decide what he would do next season.

"What I will do, it's up in the upcoming time. Now it's better to talk about Anzhi - what we can do in the time left in the league, in the cup, rather than focusing on what will happen in the future. We will see."

Hiddink's contract expires at the end of the season.

Earlier this month, Anzhi denied reports in the Dutch media that they had held talks with Dick Advocaat about taking charge for next season.

Advocaat, 65, has said he will leave PSV Eindhoven at the end of the current campaign. He succeeded Hiddink as Russia coach in 2008 and left after a flop at Euro 2012.
