Sydney, Apr 19 (ANI): The executive editor of British newspaper, The Sun, has been charged in an ongoing probe of phone hacking and corruption.
Prosecutors said Fergus Shanahan has been charged with 'conspiring to commit misconduct in public office'.
It is alleged that Shanahan authorised a journalist to make two payments totalling about 10,351 dollars to a public official in exchange for information, News.com.au reports.
He had been arrested for questioning early last year.
Prosecutors say Shanahan is scheduled to appear in the court on May 8. (ANI)
