Washington, Apr. 9 (ANI): A song that centers on a frank conversation on race relations between Southern Confederate flag-wearing 'white man and a Northern black man' has sparked outrage for racist language.
The song is a collaboration between 'a white man/from the southland' and a 'black Yankee'.
According to the New York Daily News, Brad Paisley's 'Accidental Racist', a duet he performed with rapper LL Cool J, was almost universally panned on Monday, a day before Paisley's album "Wheelhouse" was released.
Most, including comedians, writers and musicians, used words such as 'horrible', 'bizarre' or 'racist' to describe the nearly six-minute song, which explores modern-day race relations.
It begins with Paisley describing his choice of a Confederate flag shirt as an ode to Lynyrd Skynyrd as opposed to a nod to racism.
On his intention with the incendiary record, Paisley said he felt it was timely because America is growing up with respect to race relations.
According to the report, some joked the entire song was satire, with The Roots drummer Quest love tweeting the song was actually made by Weird Al Yankovich. (ANI)
