Sydney, Apr 3 (ANI): New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) opening match on Wednesday night because of a hamstring injury.
McCullum will miss the Twenty20 tournament's opening match between his team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Delhi Daredevils due to the injury which he suffered during the drawn third Test against England in Auckland last week, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The report further said that it is unclear whether the Kiwi skipper, who was in a fine form against England, will be fit for the KKR's second match on Monday, adding that he has remained behind in his country for treatment.
The opening match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata has been robbed of both its New Zealand players, with Daredevils player Jesse Ryder still in recovery after a bashing in Christchurch last week that left him with a fractured skull and punctured lung.
It is not known when Ryder will be fit to return to cricket, the report added. (ANI)
