Feeding stations for migratory birds in China

China,Environment/Wildlife, Wed, 27 Mar 2013 IANS

Beijing, March 27 (IANS) China has set up six feeding stations for migratory birds near a lake straddling the Sino-Russian border, officials said Wednesday.

While en route to destinations in Siberia, over two million migratory birds fly by the Xingkai Lake Natural Reserve every March and April, Xinhua quoted local official Shang Erzeng as saying.

To ensure food supplies for the birds, local authorities have established the six feeding stations that offer appropriate foods for various species.

The public has been urged to donate food for the birds.
