Islamabad , Thu, 21 Mar 2013 ANI

Islamabad, March 21 (Xinhua-ANI): At least eight people were killed and several others injured when a bomb went off in a refugee camp in Pakistan's northwest city of Nowshera on Thursday morning, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel Dawn said that the blast took place at about 11: 40 a.m. (local time) when local authorities were distributing edibles to refugees in the Jalozai Camp of Nowshera, a main district in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Police said that the bomb was triggered off by a remote controlled device and the explosive materials were planted inside a car which was parked near the food distribution depot.

The injured people were shifted to hospitals in Nowshera and Peshawar where doctors said that several of them were in critical condition.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Police has cordoned off the area and an investigation into the incident has been kicked off. (Xinhua-ANI)
