Matt Hayden to front Oz tourism campaign to woo Indian travelers

Melbourne, Wed, 20 Mar 2013 ANI

Melbourne, Mar 20 (ANI): Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden is set to woo his fan-base in India and attract Indian tourists to Queensland through a new campaign for Tourism and Events Queensland and Singapore Airlines, which is aiming to cash in on the increasingly lucrative Indian travel market.

The cricket legend will promote his native Queensland through the campaign, named 'Go Beyond', which will showcase the state's rainforests, beaches and the Great Barrier Reef to a potential audience of millions of daring Indians, the Courier Mail reports.

Expressing his excitement to be chosen to promote the campaign, Hayden said that he had the opportunity to travel the entire state and has also sampled the attractions of the holiday destinations of Queensland, adding that he is therefore delighted to show it all to prospective Indian tourists.

Tourism minister Jann Stuckey said that Hayden, who famously conquered India's spinners during a tour of the sub-continent in 2001, will have real star pulling power with the cricket-mad nation.

Stuckey further said that Hayden's passion about promoting Queensland as a world-class tourism and culinary destination is expected to rub off on his huge fan base in India.

The campaign will involve flight packages with Singapore Airlines' partner Virgin Australia, the report added. (ANI)
