London, March 9(ANI): Author Hilary Mantel, who had earlier described the Duchess of Cambridge as a "shop-window mannequin" whose only purpose is to breed, has defended her comment.
The Award winning novelist told BBC Radio that she has "absolutely nothing to apologise for" as her words had been taken out of context, the Daily Express reported.
Mantel made headlines last month after she criticised Kate Middleton as having no personality and appearing to have been "gloss-varnished" with a perfect plastic smile, during a lecture at the British Museum.
The double Booker Prize winner said that her lecture and the subsequent essay was actually supportive of the Royal Family, but the 'misinterpretation' of her comments on Middleton have made her a hated figure.
She added that her whole theme was about the way royals were maltreated, making them superhuman, yet less than human. (ANI)
