London, Mar 8 (ANI): The former lead detective in the murder case of Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius' model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has resigned from the police force, according to South African police sources.
Police did not clarify the reasons behind the resignation of Detective Hilton Botha, who had been dropped from the investigating team when it was revealed that he was facing attempted murder charges in another case, BBC reports.
Botha was accused of mishandling the investigation after giving contradictory evidence during fierce questioning by Mr Pistorius's defence lawyers in last month's bail hearing.
The bail hearing had also revealed that the veteran policeman was allegedly involved in the shooting of a minibus taxi loaded with passengers two years, in which the charges against him were originally dropped but were later again reinstated.
Botha is set to appear in court in May, along with two other officers also accused in the shooting incident, the report added. (ANI)
