Yangon, Feb 6 (IANS) Japanese car-maker Suzuki Motor Corp. will resume manufacturing of vehicles and spare parts in Myanmar after production was halted in 2010, Xinhua reported Wednesday.
Suzuki's resumption of the undertakings has been approved by the Myanmar Investment Commission, the Weekly Eleven journal said in its website.
The company's former plant is located in the Industrial Zone in South Dagon while the new plant will be located in Thilawa Special Economic Zone.
An assembly plant is tentatively targeted for completion by 2015.
Japan's fourth largest auto manufacturer, Suzuki first began vehicle production in Myanmar in 1999 but halted production in 2010.
Statistics show the number of registered motor vehicles in Myanmar was 3.6 million as of November 2012.
