England stars warned not to go to Pakistan over security concerns

London , Sun, 20 Jan 2013 ANI

London, Jan. 20 (ANI): England stars have been urged by the Players' Union not to participate in the inaugural Pakistan Twenty20 Super League because of grave concerns over security.

Several England international and county T20 stars, among them all-rounder Luke Wright, have attracted interest from organisers keen to recruit them to join the PSL starting in March, reports the Daily Mail.

But the Professional Cricketers Association are so concerned over safety that they have contacted counties asking them to stop players taking part by refusing to issue No Objection Certificates - the written permission they require to play in overseas T20 competitions.

PCA chief executive Angus Porter said their advice is that players should not take part in the PSL and added he is certain that England will not issue No Objection Certificates to their centrally contracted players.

No international cricket has been played in Pakistan since the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by gunmen in Lahore in 2009. (ANI)
