Goa: Parrikar led BJP comes to power

The BJP-MGP coalition defeated Congress in Goa by a large margin, the coalition made victory on 24 seats out of 40. Manohar Parrikar, who led the BJP's campaign and cornered congress on the illegal mining issue is all set to be the next chief minister. A confident Parrikar said that the people of Goa have punished congress for its wrong policies. Manohar Parrikar felt proud for getting support of Hindus, Muslims and Christians alike. He said that all the communities have voted for alliance in order to save Goa.

The newly elected Goa assembly has 19 new faces so it can be said that people in Goa are ready for a change. The results are a jolt for the Congress, which reduced from 16 to 9 seats. While its ally NCP couldn't open its account in the state. In the meanwhile, Chief Minister Digamber Kamat has resigned paving the way for formation of new government.
