Washington, Fri, 21 Dec 2012 ANI

Washington, Dec. 21 (ANI): The US police was forced to use pepper spray to control an unruly crowd waiting outside a Huntsville, Alabama, mall for the latest sneakers by Nike.

Alabama police were forced to pull out the pepper spray after a crowd of sneaker-heads got unruly while waiting for a chance to buy the newest Nike Air Jordans.

More than 100 people were in line in order to get their hands on the coveted Air Jordan 11 Bred kicks outside the Madison Square Mall in Huntsville when numerous fights broke out early Thursday morning, WAFF-TV reported.

According to the New York Daily News, police used pepper spray to calm the mob, which had been forming since the mall closed on Wednesday night.

Some were so anxious to get the highly anticipated sneakers, which cost 185 dollars, that they refused to leave the line to receive medical attention, the report added. (ANI)
